The Nice Carnival is the top winter event on the French Riviera and one of the most famous carnivals in the world. For its 153rd edition in 2026, the city of Nice pays tribute to women with the historic theme: "Long Live the Queen!". From grand floats to colorful parades and flower battles, get ready for an unforgettable experience.

Every year, thousands of visitors gather between Place Masséna and the Promenade des Anglais to admire the craftsmanship of the carnival creators. For this 2026 edition, Her Majesty the Queen will lead the dance, accompanied by dance troupes and marching bands from around the world. The famous Flower Battles and Illuminated Parades will transform the city into a theater of light and color.

Good to know: If you come fully dressed in costume, entry to the pedestrian zone for the carnival parades (excluding flower battles) is free!

The city of Nice comes alive from February 11 to March 1, 2026. Here are the must-attend events for this 153rd edition:

  • Opening - The Grand Charivari: Wednesday, Feb 11 at 4:00 PM.
  • Opening Illuminated Parade: Saturday, Feb 14 at 9:00 PM.
  • Flower Battles: Wednesday and Saturday afternoons at 2:30 PM.
  • Illuminated Carnival Parades (Night): Tuesday and Saturday evenings at 8:30 PM.
  • Lou Queernaval: Friday, Feb 27 at 8:00 PM.
  • Incineration of the King: Saturday evening, Feb 28.
